Visionary Founder and Trend Spotter

Kurt founded Applied Tech in 1999 with the belief that small businesses should enjoy the same advantages of the productivity that technology offered larger enterprises. And that technology should serve people, not the other way around.

Kurt got his start in tech at an early age, helping his attorney dad computerize his law practice back in the early 80’s. After earning degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Agriculture and Applied Economics, he began his career in Public Policy doing data research analyzing trends.

His analytical ability to spot trends eventually served Kurt well soon after he founded Applied Tech building the foundation upon which our growth continues to this day.

In 2019, Kurt joined forces with a few other experienced MSP operators from Meritas Capital to help further catapult Applied Tech’s growth. Today, he works with fellow board members, Rob and Don, to identify compatible acquisition candidates to expand our geographical reach and further deepen our bench of technical and managerial talent.

Among his many outside interests, Kurt loves spending time…outdoors! Doing most anything. Well, except running. An RV owner, he’s taking to the road more these days to explore new natural frontiers.
