The state of Nevada was hit with a cyberattack at the end of August that resulted in many state offices closing or limiting access to services for many days following the incident. Now, weeks after the attack began, the Nevada governor has announced that 90% of the state’s public-facing websites are back online, with the other 10% being close to full restoration.

While it was previously reported that some data was stolen during the attack, there have been no signs that any personal identifier information has been affected. The state’s IT teams have been working to repair affected systems and have implemented stronger security measures.

West Virginia-based credit union, Fairmont Federal Credit Union, is notifying 187,000 customers that their information has been compromised in a data breach. The catch? The breach happened nearly two years ago.

The personal information stolen in the attack is concerning, as it includes full credit and debit card details, IRS PIN numbers, tax ID numbers, bank routing numbers, full credentials, names, birthdates, SSNs, driver’s license numbers, health information, and more.

Currently, there is no evidence of fraud cases related to this incident, but impacted individuals are being given 12-24 months of free identity and credit monitoring services.

A cyberattack on the Michigan school district, South Lyon, resulted in the district’s schools closing for 3 days as they work to recover from the incident.

While no employee or student data was affected, the outage left the district with no working phones, leading to the decision to cancel school until the phone systems are up and running again. With no ability to make calls in and out of the building, including to 911, the district feels it is best to keep students at home until the phone issue has been resolved.
