Udemy Data Breach
E-learning platform Udemy has allegedly been breached by notorious hacking group ShinyHunters, potentially compromising 1.4 million user records.
Last week, the hacking group posted a “pay or leak” ultimatum for Udemy, threatening to leak the stolen information and cause “several annoying (digital) problems.”
Compromised data may include contact information, full names, physical addresses, employment information, and payment method information.

ADT Customer Data Stolen
ShinyHunters is at it again, this time targeting one of the largest home security companies, ADT.
The stolen data reportedly affects 5.5 million people and includes names, phone numbers, and addresses. ADT said that birth dates and the last 4 digits of SSNs or Tax IDs were also included in “a small percentage of cases,” but no payment information or customer security systems were accessed during the incident.
After attempting and failing to extort ADP, ShinyHunters have posted the stolen data on their leak site.

Carnival Cruise Line Faced With Class Action Lawsuits
ShinyHunters is 3 for 3 so far in this week’s recap, with another breach of theirs making headlines.
Carnival Corporation is facing 3 class action lawsuits after the cybercrime gang stole 8.7 million records of personal customer data and internal corporate data. While it’s currently unconfirmed what specific data was stolen, it could span across all of Carnival’s brands, and may include sensitive customer information such as loyalty numbers, passport data, credit card numbers, and more.
The lawsuits filed against Carnival claim that the company did not have adequate cybersecurity protocols in place and did not notify victims fast enough.

Fidelity Fined For Data Breach
After a breach compromised 77,000 customers, including minors, Fidelity Brokerage Services is being fined $1.25 million by regulators in the state of Massachusetts.
The breach initially happened in mid 2024, and is being called a preventable incident. Massachusetts regulators claim that Fidelity “did not reasonably enforce its technical security policies” and did not properly notify many of the impacted customers.
Fidelity has agreed to hire an independent cybersecurity consultant, build a more robust cybersecurity infrastructure, and identify and inform affected parties who were not properly told.
