One of the largest HR technology providers, Workday, recently confirmed that the company fell victim to a data breach.

The attackers gained access to one of the third-party customer relationship databases used by Workday and were able to extract personal customer information. It’s unclear exactly how much data was stolen, but the affected database was mostly used to store contact information.

The HR giant stated that there is no indication of “access to customer tenants or the data within them” but contact information from the database such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers may have been compromised.

Last year’s data breach on Panera Bread that shut down digital channels and compromised the personal information of employees landed the company in hot water, with many employees filing lawsuits regarding the chain’s failure to notify them about their personal information being compromised in a timely manner. These lawsuits have now been consolidated into a class action lawsuit.

Without admitting wrongdoing, Panera agreed to a $2.5 million settlement for affected current and former employees. The chain had previously conducted an investigation, enacted stronger protections, and offered credit and identity theft monitoring to employees following the incident.
