This month, we get to know Talin Dirocco, a triage technician here at Platte River Networks. Talin has been with us for one year and works as the first touch to most tickets coming through to Platte River. Triage techs work to keep the ticket flow under control as well as make sure clients feel listened to. They act as a translator for the less tech-savvy users by gathering all the needed info before passing it along to the PRN team in order to create a more streamlined path.
Triage is a new part of the process at PRN and Talin enjoys being part of something new and working to make it a permanent part of the process. He learns new skills and has new aspirations for what he would like to be as he grows. He enjoys working directly with clients, which has opened a new door for him of working face to face with clients on issues like migrations and deployments.
Talin earned his Associates of Science with a focus on IT Studies and previously worked as an IT Tech for the Community College of Rhode Island. There, he ran into a number of unusual and amusing stories ranging from teaching an elderly person the difference between a monitor and a projector screen to finding back rooms where animal testing used to occur. He is originally from Narragansett Rhode Island.
Talin enjoys gaming, archery, and blacksmithing in his free time and collects concept art for the video games he plays. His favorite book is Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and his favorite movie is Blazing Saddles. His favorite superhero is a tie between Spiderman and Captain America.
Barack Obama is who he admires most and his favorite quote comes from the man himself: “Hope is not blind optimism. It’s not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. It’s not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it. Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by the men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”
In fact, if Talin wasn’t working in IT, he would want to be a local politician. When he was a child though, he wanted to work in the tech industry but also move to Europe and live his life looking at mountains and eating food that doesn’t include Italian or American. But if you ask him, he makes a mean lasagna and red sauce.
