This month, we get to know Ryan Curtis, a managed service engineer at Platte River. Ryan worked at Allen Technology Advising before coming to Platte River so all in all, he has been with the company for 9.5 years. Ryan is the escalation resource for any member of the Help Desk team when they encounter an issue that they need help with. He also leads the onboarding process for new clients and helps the VP of Operations refine processes and procedures. His favorite part about the job is that it is different every day and he is constantly exposed to new technology. Ryan gets to work with almost every member of Platte River and the most rewarding experiences have come from helping technicians solves issues that may have been frustrating them or the client, and hearing or seeing their sense of relief when the ticket is closed.
Prior to joining Allen Technology and Platte River, Ryan was a Customer Service Manager at Kohls, where he was given a unique perspective on service issues and was able to learn how to deal with different experiences in a calm professional manner.
When Ryan is not solving problems at work, he enjoys building furniture in his garage, sea kayaking, learning to code and learning the piano. He also loves to shoot his compound bow. He was once a part of a video game mod team and which the mod had over 300 thousand downloads in the early 2000’s.
Ryan and his wife lived in the same town and went to the same high school, but did not meet until they were in college at Colorado Mesa University. They were married in San Diego and have 2 daughters, who were born 4 days apart, with a 5-year gap between them. They also have a yellow lab named Axel and a black lab named Lincoln. He is happiest when he is with his family and doing things his daughters are excited about.
Ryan’s favorite book is the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King and he enjoys Sci-Fi movies based around space or technology. If he could be anyone, he would be Elon Musk, a leader in technology and innovation. His favorite superhero is Iron Man because he was able to engineer himself into a superhero.
The person he most admires is his dad or his grandpa. Ryan’s favorite motto is “Do what you say and say what you do!”
We love having Ryan as a part of the Platte River Team!
