This month, we get to know Phil Ouellette, our Director of Marketing here at Platte River Networks-Applied Tech. Phil has been with us for 2.5 years and is responsible for managing our brand, communicating with our clients, and bringing in new prospective clients. Prior to joining PRN-AT, Phil was a CEO of a brand marketing agency, a COO/CFO of a specialty coffee wholesaler, and a CFO of a social stationary company. He was also a controller for a military contractor. He has his BA in history and a Masters in Finance. The best part about his job at PRN is the team. He says they make the job easy because they are the brand.
Phil is originally from Milwaukee and has lived in Phoenix, Chicago, Minneapolis, and now Madison, WI. He has three grown daughters and is now a proud grandpa. (He admits he forgot how much work babies could be!) He also has a 2-year-old red-haired Cavapoo named Mabel. He is happiest when he is with his family and friends at a comfortable restaurant or pub enjoying good food, drink, and company.
In his free time, Phil enjoys landscaping, old movies, sports (specifically the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks), working out, and reading. He loves the black and white movies from the 1930s and 1940s. Specifically, his favorite is Our Man Godfrey. Phil loves presidential biographies but his favorite book is “A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr..”
The person that Phil admires most is Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist who bases his observations on fact and empirical evidence. Phil said if he could be anything in the world, he would be a sequoia tree so that he could see the arc of history unfold.
Phil’s favorite motto is “Start by Showing Up.” Well, we’re happy Phil showed up and is on our team!
