Employee Spotlight: Greg Weiland

This month, we get to know Greg Weiland, a Premium Plus Technician here at Platte River Networks. Greg has been with us for 10 months and supports the Horizons North Credit Union onsite with anything IT. The thing he loves most about his current position is the people he works with and their ability to challenge him. He loves being employed by two very diverse companies that strive to make the workers world fun and exciting. He admires that both companies give back to the community and that they appreciate both clients and employees.

Greg is one of the few pure Colorado natives, growing up in Wheatridge and Lakewood. He has worked in several jobs that involve being outdoors, like a whitewater guide, sous chef at Keystone, and road construction. Greg loves the outdoors and to hang out with his wife and dog, especially in the mountains. His wife is also a native, and both had parents/family that worked in the flower industry. Greg’s family grew carnations for over 100 years and his wife’s mother was a floral designer. Both their families raced at Lakeside raceway so their lives intertwined many times before they finally met while working at Jefferson County Libraries. It’s a small world! They have a smooth coated collie named Kira and a 20+-year-old cat.

Greg’s favorite movie is Deadpool(the first one), his favorite superhero is Iron Man and he loves any book written by Stephen King. He enjoys brewing beer in his spare time. The person he most admires is Michelle Obama and if he could be anyone, he would be Richard Branson.

He has two favorite mottos. “Get off the Lawn!” and “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work” – Thomas Edison. Growing up, Greg wanted to become a person that others looked up to. What a great aspiration!

We love having Greg as a part of our team and we’re happy to get to know him a bit more!
