Our employees are the key to our success and we love talking about them! This month we get to know Ema Thornton – IOC Helpdesk Engineer. Ema has been with Platte River Networks for nine months. She is a Rock Star Hero when it comes to assisting our clients with all of their technology needs.
Ema has experienced an interesting work life leading up to her employment here at Platte River. She has been a Firefighter/EMT, Graphic designer, Ranch Hand, Avon Lady and a tech blogger. She also holds an AAS in Graphic Design.
We asked Ema what she likes best about working at Platte River…
“I like the fact that I never know what I’m going to be working on every day. It keeps things interesting. I love solving those hard problems that no one has been able t figure out.”
Let’s get to know Ema a little better…
Her life began in Colorado but she was raised in Minnesota. But in 1993, she ventured back to her roots and the quaint mountain town of Glenwood Springs. She then lived in Roaring Fork Valley until June of 2015. Two months later, she married her wonderful fiancé at the Westminster Butterfly Pavilion on August 15th. They share their life with their two kids Hailey and Bodi and their three fur balls Indiana, the canine and Mo and Wash their two felines.
One of Ema’s greatest loves are books. When asked which one was her favorite she answered; “There are too many to pick a favorite. I am a huge bibliophile and love almost all books.”
If you peeked in on the Thornton family during the weekends or evenings you would probably find them playing one of their many tabletop games, “My husband and I often host game nights at our house. I love being in the middle of a game with everyone happy and involved.”
It’s very interesting that Ema’s favorite movie is Serenity, a 2005 action adventure film whose young leading lady is a fierce powerhouse that can most definitely hold her own against the toughest villains and yet the title is defined as calm, peaceful and untroubled. Ema represents all those qualities in a human being and an employee, she is the calm in the storm and such a peaceful soul. As you have probably noticed, when you put in a help desk ticket or call for support, Ema is friendly, patient, intelligent and committed to resolving your issue in a quick and efficient manner. We are so proud to have her as part of our family and very lucky that she chose to represent Platte River Networks. Thank you Ema!
