Our employees are the key to our success and we love talking about them! This month we get to know Bruce Hill, Field Technician. Bruce has been a member of the Platte River family for a year and a half. He is all about finding solutions and when that means a customer needs help, that is what Bruce is built for;
“It’s like a puzzle that needs solving and the gratitude they show is the most rewarding part of my job.”
Bruce holds a Masters in Math and Computer Science from the University of Denver but that is just a small layer of his incredibly interesting life.
Let’s get to know Bruce a little better. It all began 51 years ago in the Great White North…
Robert Bruce Hill was born into this world with skates on and hockey stick in hand. Raised in Olds, Alberta Canada he grew up loving sports and being involved in everything he could, after all, “in a small town you’ve got to play it all.” In one entire day he would go from swim team to hockey to soccer and finish it all off with track before heading home. His athleticism would lead him to Hockey Juniors in Canada and then to his landing pad here in Denver to play for the University of Denver (DU). It’s here where he exceled as Captain of the hockey team and where he was drafted by the Hartford Whalers. As fate would have it, an injury prevented Bruce from pursuing his professional hockey career and he returned to Denver to coach the DU Hockey Club team.
The love of the game would even lead to a wedding on Center Ice at an ice rink to his lovely bride, Connie. In his spare time Bruce loves his adventurous life with his multi talented bride. Their life together…. is anything but dull. The Hill home is a constantly moving machine that is made up of their fun-loving son and high school senior, Marcus and their four dogs Louis, Lilly, Borque and Gretzky. On any given Friday night Bruce is still tearing up the ice with his Old School Crimson team and when the skates come off, you can find him at home working on a puzzle and enjoying anything and everything sci-fi, trekkie or technology based. If Bruce could be anything or anyone he would be the Prime Minister of Canada with the goal of straightening out the country or most definitely an NHL player.
The country of Canada would adore you Bruce, because your positive energy and warm and giving personality is an addictive magnet to all the lives you touch. But we claim you as ours and feel very lucky to have you!
