Network Operations Center Technician

Job Summary:

Applied Tech, located on the near East side of Madison in open, spacious, well-lit, non-corporate offices, is looking for a NOC Technician to provide proactive and reactive remote support to clients for technical issues, including identification and execution of specific upgrades to customer systems. Candidates must have in depth knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems as well as basic Windows Server 2003 knowledge. MCPs required and MCSA preferred. 

The following job breakdowns will apply:

- Remote NOC Support: 65%
- Onsite Break/Fix: 25%
- Miscellaneous/other: 10%

Responsibilities:

- Network Operations Center support:  Review assigned and unassigned service requests daily, work the service requests to successful resolution following Applied Tech standards, escalate to higher level support professionals when needed, follow up and provide status updates to clients and ensure data pertaining to the status of service requests are entered into our CRM system. 

- Perform planned network and system changes and upgrades.

- Provide technology support: Install switches, firewalls, routers, PC’s, and wireless devices. Perform proactive maintenance on these devices and troubleshoot hardware/software problems.

- Continuously strive to meet and exceed SLA’s as set by Applied Tech

- Commitment to outstanding customer service: Continuously strive to provide the highest possible customer service and make recommendations for improving our service and efficiencies. 

Qualifications:

- At least a 2 year Associates degree in business or computer-related field or equivalent work experience. 

- Minimum of two to three years of related experience in infrastructure/network and or help desk environments.

- Minimum of a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Windows XP and or Windows 2003 Server.  MCSA desired.

- Ability to occasionally work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet clients' needs

- Previous NOC and or consulting experience preferred.

- Customer Service oriented with a professional demeanor

- Ability to solve problems in an independent, prompt, and professional manner.

- Must know when to ask for assistance, and when to give assistance. Must be approachable, teachable, a team player with a strong desire to continue learning and expanding their experience in a highly evolving technical environment.

Skills:

- Desktop OS Software: In-depth knowledge of current and pending Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems
- Applications: Proficient in the use of the current suite of MS Office productivity tools (e.g. Office with in depth knowledge of Outlook, Project and Visio)

- Server Products: Basic knowledge of several Microsoft server-based products - Standard Server, Small Business Server and Exchange Server. 

- Must be fluent with networking technologies, including switching, routing, wireless and firewall technologies.

- Experience with the use of hardware and software backup products.

- MAC experience a plus
