Who is Applied Tech?

Applied Tech is an Information Technology provider focusing on meeting the special needs of small to medium-sized organizations. We specialize in helping companies and organizations increase efficiency, exceed business goals, and make the best possible use of technology so they can take better care of their customers.

In addition to affordable rates, Applied Tech provides reliable, personalized service. We get to know our clients on a first name basis, which helps to build strong, comfortable working relationships. We also take the time to get to know your business, so we can suggest customized solutions that meet your specific needs. Finally, we skip the “techno-babble” by explaining your options in language you can understand.

Applied Tech was started in 1999 as the result of initiatives by Kurt Sippel when working as I.T. Director at the University of Wisconsin’s LaFollette Institute of Public Policy. Applied Tech started out by providing technical services to small departments at the UW-Madison campus. The company evolved when Applied Tech started providing small businesses with services such as networking, system design, technical consulting and hardware. Mr. Sippel wanted to provide I.T. capabilities to the under-served portion of the small business community, while respecting their cost-consciousness and need to accomplish more with less. The company later expanded this service line to incude business solutions.

Over the last nine years, Applied Tech has met the I.T. needs of more than 250 organizations in central and south-central Wisconsin. Clients have included businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations and trade associations. Our clients range from those without an internal I.T. staff to those with several I.T. professionals on staff. Our programs are designed to support both by becoming a full service outsourced I.T. staff for our smaller clients and supplementing our larger ones by performing routine maintenance tasks.

In 2005, we extended our market area to central Wisconsin through an office in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Applied Tech also acquired the Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) division of Wegner Consulting in January 2007, allowing us to increase our Business Solutions planning through the use of Microsoft Dynamics products.
